    Colorado’s election reforms have increased voter participation in local, state, and national races. Voters can register to vote online or in-person, even on election day, and eligibility is cross-checked with existing state agencies. State voter registration rolls track address changes, rather than automatically purging voter-roll. Every registered voter is mailed a ballot that can be returned by mail or dropped off at official sites. Turnout increased from 66% in 2008 to 72% in 2016 and was the second highest in the nation's 2018 midterm elections. Several other states have implemented Colorado’s reforms.

    Gjenge Makers Ltd is an alternative building product manufacturing company that creates products – such as pavers and blocks – out of recycled plastics. Founded by four Kenyan engineers, the team began by studying the manufacturing process and researching what products would do well on the market. They then built all of the machinery themselves, which break down the plastics, and then mix them with other building material products to ultimately create customizable plastic bricks that can withstand larger weight and are less expensive than concrete. They are popular in rural and lower-income areas.

Cultural burns are used to reinvigorate the landscape so that seeds and berries grow and animals return. Stories about cultural burns are being recorded from tribal elders to preserve the rich cultural knowledge about traditional fire management techniques. First Nations hope to be able to use cultural burns on their tribal lands.
