So far, the organization has planted more than 300 trees.

SOS Búsqueda y Rescate (or SOS Search and Rescue) is a woman-led border and migrant search-and-rescue group that braves the elements — like extreme desert temperatures — to locate migrants who get lost or left behind along their journey from Mexico to the U.S. Since 2020, the volunteer group has found 60 survivors and the remains of 65 others, allowing them to offer closure for families searching for their loved ones.

Newly-arrived immigrants are finding work and a sense of acceptance as beekeepers through Bybi, an organization that helps refugees integrate in Denmark. Bybi is serving the immigrant community while also reversing the decline of bee populations, which are vital to agriculture and entire ecosystems.

North Bay Jobs With Justice teaches immigrant and Indigenous farmworkers how to restore the land’s ecological health and mitigate impacts of climate change and disasters like wildfires through training efforts and ancestral knowledge. The group has also helped workers organize for respect, safer conditions and fair pay.

ReTuna, a new Swedish shopping mall, features exclusively items that are used, secondhand, or made sustainably. The mall is hoping to help consumers save money, as well as decrease waste and improve the shopping experience for secondhand goods. It is also employing many immigrants through a government training program. Though this specific shopping mall model is new, countries around the world have slowly started new methods to reduce waste.
