'A weight lifted:' How Black students find community on campus


At predominantly white institutions, or PWIs, programs such as the University of Connecticut's Black Sisters Optimizing Unity & Leadership House help Black students find a sense of belonging and community. BSOUL is a living and learning community that includes targeted courses to help first- and second-year students learn how to build a professional network, as well as wellness events, community meetings, and professional development opportunities.
