Students on lockdown create a global guide to coronavirus conspiracy theories, fake cures, and other whopping lies

Estonia is preparing to protect itself digitally from any neighbouring enemies. To do so it is trying to create 'data embassies', that would have the same protections as physical embassies, in order to protect the digital continuity of the people

During West Virginia’s primary elections, a pilot program used blockchain technology and a mobile app to record votes. The aim was to improve election security and make it easier for Americans abroad to cast their ballots. Critics say that the program left many security issues unsolved.

The Cybersecurity industry in Colorado has started recruiting and training veterans, finding that ex-military members gave what it takes to combat digital "bad guys" and other cybersecurity issues. While Colorado has fewer individuals employed by the cybersecurity industry than the majority of the country, they're finding success with their veteran training programs.

At Basha High School in Chandler, Arizona, students can learn about one of the world's fastest-growing professional fields: cybersecurity. The high school works in partnership with the University of Arizona to teach students everything from hardware to software in the program's own dedicated building. Students who complete the program can earn up to 70 college credits and six different certifications.

Estonia is bolstering its cybersecurity against Russian would-be hackers on a shoestring budget and a brigade of volunteers, called the "nerd reserves." Hailing from Estonia's rich IT community, as well as other industries like education and law, the volunteers engage in a range of defensive activities like planning elaborate simulated cyberexercises and giving talks at elementary schools.

Situated less than 90 miles from China, the coronavirus outbreak could have been critical in Taiwan, but the country's proactive measures helped to stave off the worst of the disease. Having learned from SARS epidemic, Taiwan had prepared for future situations by creating a comprehensive command center and implementing a transparent communication strategy both of which have helped slow the spread of Covid-19.

The United States and Italy have been playing catch up in the mitigation of the coronavirus pandemic and were resistant to implementing social distancing, while other countries took more aggressive approaches. Now both countries are looking to China and South Korea to learn how sweeping actions and industrialized scaling of measures such as fever clinics, temperature check points, portable CAT scanning, and social isolation, have helped to contain the pandemic.

China has seen success in containing the coronavirus through strict governmental oversight but when the virus made its way to Vietnam – a country with similar rule – the government enacted more transparent approaches and relied on social networks to mitigate the spread. Although it is yet to be seen if one methodology was superior to the other, Vietnam's strategy of accountability and transparency has "proved to be effective and furnished positive results."

As word of the coronavirus outbreak spread, so did misinformation, so the World Health Organization began working with big tech companies to put a stop to it. Collaborating with the likes of Pinterest, Google, Twitter, and Facebook, W.H.O. has posted content that disputes the incorrect information across platforms and sites in order to make "falsehoods harder to find in searches or on news streams."
