Noora Health’s Care Companion Program (CCP) trains nurses to deliver actionable health information to the families of hospital patients on how to care for them once discharged. The trainings are in local languages and are engaging and accessible, using formats like videos, animations, and pictures. With government collaboration, the CCP was able to scale up and is now used in 156 hospitals in India and four in Bangladesh. Noora’s staff continues to support families using WhatsApp and CCP interventions have shown to substantially increase proper care adherence and reduce post-discharge complications.

Here's how people in the Delta are working to overcome COVID-19 vaccine transportation barriers

Transit operations have been repurposed to increase access to COVID-19 vaccines among underserved communities in the Delta. A fleet of transit buses that were sitting unused at Mississippi Valley State University now provide rides to and from vaccine sites. Community activists, local transportation agencies, and philanthropic groups have worked together to arrange similar no-cost vaccination transportation for people who need it. The Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi made an initial contribution to support the efforts, though limited advertising has also limited the reach of the programs.

A college professor and a former stabbing victim counsel young men in the hospital soon after they are shot or stabbed. These interventions, based on trust and shared experiences, are meant to prevent repeat injuries, which are common for people with traumatic experiences. Of 116 men they've counseled, one was later murdered, one was rehospitalized, and all the rest have found safety and some measure of success in reorienting their lives -- a far better rate than was the norm at that hospital before the program started.
